SSC Selection Process

SSC CGL is one of the prestigious posts in the central government department as it offers a handsome salary and a satisfying job profile. If you are a CGL aspirant, knowing the detailed SSC Selection Process 2021 will help you prepare properly.

  • The selection process involves four stages: Tier-I, Tier-II, Tier-III, Tier-IV. All four stages are qualifying in nature.
  • Candidates who are qualified in Tier-I exam will be eligible to appear for the Tier-II exam of SSC CGL.
  • The tier-II exam is conducted in online mode. Tier-II exam has four sections: English Language & Comprehension, Quantitative Abilities, Statistics, and General Studies, having 200, 100, 100, and 100 questions, respectively.
  • Candidates scoring above the cut-off marks in Tier-II exam will be eligible to appear for the next stage of the selection process, i.e., Tier-III.
  • Candidates must note that the final merit list will be prepared based on cumulative marks scored by candidates in Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria

Qualification :

  • Bachelor’s degree in any stream with a minimum of 60% marks in Mathematics in 12th standard, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in any stream with Statistics as one of the core subjects.

Age Limit

SSC has increased the age limit for SSC CGL Recruitment, though the age varies for different posts. The minimum age limit defined for SSC CGL is 27 years, and the maximum is 32 years.

SSC Selection Process 2022s

Tier-I: Computer-based test

Tier-II: Computer-based test

Tier-III: Descriptive paper

Tier-IV: Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)/ Document Verification (DV)/ Skill Test

 

Tier-I: This is a 75-minute examination, having 100 questions & a total of 200 marks. For each correct answer, the student is awarded +2 marks, and for each incorrect answer, -0.50 are deducted. No marks are deducted for not attempting questions. The score obtained in the Tier-I examination is added to the final score to arrive at the merit list. There are four sections – Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English Language, and General Awareness & each section has 25 questions.

 

Tier-II: Tier-II Exam has four papers.

Paper- I Quantitative Abilities – 200 marks (100 Questions)

Paper-II English Language & Comprehension – 200 marks (200 questions).

Paper- III Statistics 200 marks (100 Questions)

Paper-IV General Studies (Finance & Economics) – 200 Marks (100 Questions)

 

For Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Paper- I, Paper-II, and Paper- III are considered for selection.

For Assistant Audit Officer Group-B: Paper- I, Paper-II, and Paper- IV are considered for selection.

For Other Posts: Only Paper-I and Paper-II are considered for selection.

 

Tier-III: Tier-III is a descriptive paper of 100 marks that will require candidates to write a Letter/ Essay/ Precis/ Application in either English or Hindi.

SSC CGL Tier-III exam is only qualifying in nature. Candidates are required to score a minimum of 33% marks in the Tier-III exam.

 

Tier-IV: Shortlisted candidates based on Tier-II and descriptive paper will be called for the skill test of the SSC CGL selection process. SSC CGL skill test comprises Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) and Data Entry Skill Test (DEST).

CPT exam is conducted for candidates who applied for Assistant Section Officer (MEA), Assistant Section Officer of CSS, Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and Assistant in the Ministry of Mines posts. 

DEST is conducted for the post of Tax Assistants (Income Tax & Central Excise). As per the SSC CGL 2022 selection process, the tier 4 exam will be qualifying in nature.
